Thinking of Selling....

Post by laura_fairy_22 »

I've been thinking about it for a little while now, so on monday I went around a few garages looking for a new car - I have test drives booked with MINI, VW - for a Golf 1.6 FSi, and and yesterday had a test drive at Vauxhall for a new shape Astra SXi, which was lush!! (see below)
Image
when I got into the polo after driving the astra it felt like driving a tank!!

I think the astra is winning hands down atm, as its cheaper on servicing than VW and cheaper outright than the Golf, it's also styled exactly how i like my cars, so i wouldnt have to spend any extra cash to modify it. The insurance for the astra is the same as what I'm currently paying for my polo (mebbe £20 dearer a year, but thats nothing)

The mini I like, but it's just a BMW with a different badge, so it's bound to be expensive on servicing.

One thing that I would like to ask....
How much do you think that I could get for the lil one?
She has FSH (all VW bar one stamp from previous owner),
less than 48k on the clock (Y Reg),
I have all of the original grill & lights, so they would be back to standard.
Cat 1 Alarm, that i've just had fitted setting me back 300 notes.
I would say she was in VGC.

Any ideas?
Thanks in advanced.

Best bet would be to advertise on forums and accept offers and see what people are willing to pay for it... If you get the right offer then it's all good...

Personally I prefer the mini to the astra but the astra isn't too bad (but being a vauxhall is a big turn off for me tho)...

I drove a new golf today... a 1.6 FSi.
all I can say is OMG. how lush!
it is so much fun to drive & I felt so safe.....

on the other hand i drove a new mini one - which was a pile of w**k IMHO!

so now its a close call between the Golf & the Astra :(

HELPPPPP!! PLEEEEAAAASSSEE!

I'm going back to VW tomoz @ 1pm for them to give me a quote for my car on Px and to give me a quote for finance etc.

I would take the Golf over the Astra every day love - not just 'cos I'm into my dubs but simply because its the nicer car to own and run. IMO the interior design of the Golf is far superior, I thought the Astra was a bit plasticky (we have one as a company car)... 8)

you wanna see the true definition of plasticy.... (sp) thats the mini all over.. pfffft! haha! even on the convertable, the silver "roll cage" - you got it - thats plastic!

i love the golf, but its the VW servicing prices that puts me off a bit... :(

i'm not that into vauxhalls, but i lov the new astra. Its standard spoiling is spot on, especially the sxi with the them nice 5 spoke alloys. The astra you showed at the top has the ugliest wheels and makes the car look pretty s**t imo. In all fairness i probably only liek the higher spec astras due to the stance and wheels etc. but the lower spec ones can easy be rectified, but you did say you didnt want to spend on mods.

i'd much rather have the mk4 golf than the mk5, get the anniversary :P

Euro NCap Golf Test

Euro NCap Astra Test

The results are very similar but I'd still have the Golf, plus the Golf is kinder to pedestrians if you hit them :D

ok......

the picture that I posted IS the SXi. its the VXr that comes with the "normal" 5 spoked wheels.
the astra has had the bonnet re designed so that if a pedestrian does hit it, it will give and wont break their back.
the golf that they wanted to sell to me, the sales man had made out to be an SE or the next one up, but when I drove a half hour to actually take a look at the vehicle, it was only an S, and was loaded with plastic, which IMO, made it look very cheap and nasty.
I was really dissapointed with it.
