help needed.

Post by Mungall »

hi there, just recently joined up and this is my first post. Im going to be looking for a new car after i get rid of my peugeot 206, ive only owned french cars in the past and never had a vw before so i know next to nothing about them so i hope this is also in the right section of the forum.
Ive been looking at the vw polo the one with the twin headlights at the front, i believe they are referred to as 9n?? hope this is correct.. lol. well im looking for the highest spec model and been searching for a gti but to no success and was beginning to doubt if you can get a gti on this model, why is this. Anyway what would be the top of the range one and could you post a pic too?

many thanks,

Andrew

Welcome to the forum Andrew!

The highest model in Diesel is the Polo GT (130bhp) then the 1.9tdi (100bhp) then the 1.4tdi (75bhp).

Petrol (i believe) the highest model was the 1.4 sport (100bhp).

Here is a pic of mine which is a 1.4 tdi Sport with the Volkswagen Votex bodykit on;

Sorry forgot to mention not GTi was ever produced for this shape polo (9n). Meaning the Polo GT is the fastest 9n available.

Thanks very much for your help, Im gonna look into it and see if i can get a test drive somewhere.

oh and one more question... i promise..lol

ive noticed a few polos with these wheels on it so i take it they are not after market wheels and are original vw wheels, do these come standard on any polos or are they an upgrade from the dealership?

thanks again?

and pic..

Don't worry, ask as many questions as you like - catch me on msn if you need to.

Them alloys are optional extras, quite rare too. They are called 'Exor' and they are 17".

dino is correct, 1.9tdi 130bhp GT is the fastest polo in the range, it has amazing amounts of torque and very good fuel economy!!
plus they are easy to tune up!!

thanks bud,

yeah i know what you mean, some people are just crazy with some of the cars they go about in but i think im over the modifying scene now, just needing something smart and subtle with a bit of power. think im getting old! lol
