Changing headlight bulb on 9n polo

Hi there,

i drive a mk2 golf gti, and my wifes got a 9n polo, last night i noticed here drivers side main headlight bulb was out so i bought a new bulb, son't have a manual for the car, so any tips on replacing the bulb?

Unless you can squeeze your hand in the gaps behind the headlights it's a bumper off jobbie. There is a guide in the DIY section.

I can change the sidelights but it is fiddly and takes time!

i believe its just the diesels that have that problem of bumper off job.

the 1.2, 1.4 75hp and 1.4 86 fsi (all petrol models) headlights and sidelights can all be changed without bumper removal.

Correct you need the fingers of an octopus on my 1.9, and even then it would be difficult..

the fuel filter on the right and the battery on the left restrict access to the back of the headlights in diesel polos. petrol ones shouldn't be much of a problem, 2 minute job to remove the seal, locate the bulb holder, twist it and swap bulbs.
