You mean like a rally style sequential gear box? Push the Lever forward to go up, amd pull it back to go down?

About the same price as a 1.8 20vt conversion accoring to this http://www.gearboxman.co.uk/psgearboxes.html

You can get a B&M Racing short shifter to fit the Polo GTi's standard gearbox, if thats what you're after.

Part number 45106

I had one but never got around to fitting it, so sold it a few months ago

Its not worth getting a short-shifter in my opinion, I got one on my GTi. I've heard it causes more stress on the gearbox, so i'll be taking mine out once the gearbox has been fixed.

I cant see how it causes more strain on the gearbox. It just raises a pivot point. The Push rod to the gear box moves in exactly the same way as it does before the installation of the quick shifter.

Correct me if I'm wrong, thats just my understanding of it. I had a good look at it all when I installed my B&M

Yes, the kind where you just tap the gear box up or down (like a rally one)! :?

how much does the b&m short shifter cost?? and how does it feel. I'd love one, so would it be compatible with the other 6n2 gearboxes?

Basically you're talking about twice the value of your GTi just to purchase the gearbox. Then you have to make it fit.

Interesting idea, but I can think of better ways to spend £8k
