Front Brakes? 1.4 16v 100bhp sport

Hey guys, im looking to replace me front discs with a set of uprated ones, but im a little confused as to which size i need, certain shops seem to think its 288mm and others think 256mm or less, but im pretty sure there not as big as 288mm.. but i really dont know, and no one else seems to know, can any body shed a little light on this?? (2002 polo 9n 1.4 16v 100bhp sport)

Your brakes are 256mm.
