Wassup Peeps!
I was considering on getting my polo lowered. However, i do not want any of the problems such as screeching tyres, scraping arches, body-toching-wheels with too much weight, etc etc etc...... So, I was wondering how low you guys would recommend lowering it? AND with what springs, etc. Also, if there is anything else needed, please let me know. Im thinking of changing the alloys, but im more in favour of keeping the standard BBS alloys (seeing as they look good, and make the car fast!). Or how abouts puting the same standard wheels on but 16" versions (and still lowering)!

I think that it really depends on how much you are willing to spend.
A few people on the forum have coilover suspension (H&R and KW) but then your be looking at £700+
The BBS RX2's are about £320 per wheel (without tyre) in 15's. So for the 16" rims you could be looking at £400 a corner (again without tyre).
Audi rims seem to be the alloy of choice with the Golf modd'ers.. does anyone know if I can OEM TT wheels on a Polo Gti and if so how much they would cost?

Only the current Polo will be able to run 5-lug TT wheels. The GTI is still 4 stud, so that makes life hard.
On the subject of lowering, with the right ET and wheel size, you can go up to super slammed mode (as in, -110mm) and still not rub. Scraping is something else though, but rubbing can be avoided. The GTI wheels have a high ET, so they're less likely to catch the outside arches when going low.
I guess a good question to ask is 'how much comfort are you willing to sacrifice?'

I tried Demon Tweeks for a set of 17" RX2's but they could only do 18" but Venom Motorsport's website state they do 17"s. Unfortunately BBS don't do 16"s in the RX2.Ams wrote:Or how abouts puting the same standard wheels on but 16" versions (and still lowering)!
I got KWs on mine, and i also have BBS RXs 16" on it...
i am not exactly sure hov much it is lowered but i am guessing around 70mm and it works fine except when you are doing very hard tight corners....then the tires touch, but you cant realy se anny marks on them afterwards....

I would suggest a 30-40mm drop if you want zero problems. I don't have a gti but have my 16V lowered 35mm on eibach springs and it never rubs,scrapes or catches speed humps etc. It would look better lower but it's 100% practical how it is.
A word of warning though, eibach's handle very nice but the ride is firm
