Problem with electric window not going back up?

Post by KennyG »

Last year, i shut my drivers door while the window was down... Later on i tried to put it back up... It went so far up, stopped, then went back down!! Thought i'd broken somethin... If i pressed the button at the same time as pulling it up, it would go up eventually... Never got it fixed cause i thought it would be expensive.. Anyone else had this problem??

Anywho.. Yesterday morning, i got into my car still half asleep... Couldn't see out the windows so put them both down to clear them, then put them back up by my drivers window only went a wee bit up so pressed the down button, but cause i was half asleep, i still pulled it up and the window clicked!!!! Thought i'd broken it even more but, somehow its FIXED and works great!!!! WooHoo!!

Just thought i'd post this up in case the same happens to someone else and to save them a garage bill!!

Random!

It sounds as though the glass became out of alignment with the runners somehow, presumably through shutting the door whilst the window was down (would take some force though I would imagine). Then yesterday you managed to pull the whole lot back together again with a bit of brute force and a healthy dose of luck? :)

How rare.

I have to do this all the time....yeh my drivers window is the same, goes up half way then seems to hit the pressure point and go back down......i'v been told that that it has slipped off the runner and the window is sliding up while pressed on the runner, then getting stuck......activating the pressure point and going back down. If my window is down and i shut my door, it makes a hell of a clunk!

Cant be assed fixing it, just leave the window up......too cold anyway! but i'll have a look soon, get the door card off.

Motor

I had exactly same trouble with mine. Changed my switches and it still kept on happening. Seen my mate who's a VW mechanic and told me the window motor is buggered. Changed the window motor (£125) and it's all puka now. Nearly passed out when he told me the price

Same problem with me actually had a go at sorting it out today.

All i did was take the unscrew the thick black rubbery plug which connects the door to the car body itself. Spray wd40 down the sides of the windows, connect the plug back on and voila the window works perfectly.

We will see for how long tho 8)
