Alloy wheel size?
Alloy wheel size?
Hi,
I'm a bit confused about wheel sizes and fitment as well as tyres so any advice would be appreciated.
I want to get some 15" wheels what sort of width suits a Mk4?
All I know so far is I want 15" wheels and the PCD should be 4 x 100 not sure about ET and so on?
Thanks,
Mo

Yep definitely 15's the max for me but what about width wise whats the usual in that area?PeteJ wrote:15's are about the biggest you'll want to go if you going to lower it. but mines on 15's and im waiting for a 50mm shock/spring kit and atm its like a tractor. however it doesnt look overly large tbh.
Also I've seen many people with 195/45/15 what does the 45 mean as I'm looking at a set of wheels that are 195/50/15?
Thanks,
Mo
Sound advice, thank you I'm going to make a note of that when I'm looking for tyres.bigstu wrote:195/45/15 is what you want, cos its the closest size match to OE spec wheels tyres, thus keepin your rollin radius standard, 195/50/15 wont look as good and will affect your rollin radius and therefor afect your speedo readings
So tyre size should be 195/45/15 wheels should be 15" with PCD 4x100
What should the ET be and the bit which is 5J, 6J etc?
Thanks for clearing that up for mePeteJ wrote:195 is the width, 45 is the tyre wall depth. ie 45% of full size tyres. 45 is quite low pro, i think mine are about 45ish.
so 195 is width of tyre 45 is profile and 15 is circumference
help?
Also is 6J the depth of the wheel?

my car is sitting 60 on 16's and doesnt drive like a tractor, its smooth most of the time can be bumpy on dodgy roads but thats it, my wheels are 195/45/16.PeteJ wrote:15's are about the biggest you'll want to go if you going to lower it. but mines on 15's and im waiting for a 50mm shock/spring kit and atm its like a tractor. however it doesnt look overly large tbh.
Hmm, that's got me thinking now Dolly as I've seen a pic of your white Polo which looks rather nice*DollyBurd* wrote:my car is sitting 60 on 16's and doesnt drive like a tractor, its smooth most of the time can be bumpy on dodgy roads but thats it, my wheels are 195/45/16.PeteJ wrote:15's are about the biggest you'll want to go if you going to lower it. but mines on 15's and im waiting for a 50mm shock/spring kit and atm its like a tractor. however it doesnt look overly large tbh.
