Just read through a couple of pages of threads on here you will soon see the common problems..
Main ones,, pedal box recall, check to see if youve got a sticker on the floor of your boot,if its there it will have been done.
2. gearbox and clutch
3.cambelt tensoniors
4.Other than that just enjoy your gti!!!! i love mine even although repairs just set me back £1000 for clutch and gearbox repair and a few other bits and bobs.
Try VAG-parts on this forum.hussain01 wrote:the problem was a relay.
ok now where do i get one form cheap and what will it cost to fit it.
also will the car be ok for the time bieng driving on short journeys?
Are you sure it was a relay? is that located under driver's dash?
It's a kind of risky to keep driving like this,
but as long as you can keep your temperature right, then shouldn't be
a problem.
i dont know where abouts it is
the car doesnt overheat or nuthing like that its just the fan has a constant process off comming on and off.
so whats the best thing also i am going to get the year warantty due to alot of people are haveing clutch and gearbox problems and they are very expensive i believe
There are two things to look for...
1 temperature sender-on the back of radiator
2 AC high pressure sender-this one is hiding behind right side
of front bumper.
Good luck for that.
I try number 2 I disconnected the fan turned the ignition on but did not start and see if you can hear I relay dropping in and out, , cos Ive had the same thing, but it was just water corrosion in the multiplug, oh and I ve heard that if you run the air con it turns the fan on
if thats any help,
