Problem with Alloys centerbore, Any recommendations?

Post by adamvfr »

Well ive run it a little problem.

Ive found out that the centerbore on my alloys are 56.15mm and the VW hub is 57.1mm. So wont fit by 1mm.

Question is could i file away on the alloy to make it 1mm bigger? This meaning that it may not be 57.1mm dead. Would the 4 bolts hold the alloy securely?

Other option is getting them all machined. Though i dont know of any places in the NW London area.

Any recommendation and help would be greatly appreciated.

I've done thiis before on an old set of rims to get them to fit my old golf. I used these little file type affairs that go on your drill, you can get them from manky tool shops (you know the ones) there only a couple quid. Just go round and round against the direction of the drill until there big enough. You gotta keep trying it till you get it right. Mine were about 3mm smaller so took a lil while so be careful when doing it.

And yes, the bolts will hold the wheels on. But would be better if you could get them exactly right. It is quite easy, all my wheels fitted perfect.
