Cambelt failure post 2 - Paranoid mess

Post by shantybeater »

Haha im one happy bastard today, I dont know if any of you remember but i posted a message on the forum last week after intermitent stalling while warm followed by the engine management light coming on and a strange sound from the engine.

I instantly shat myself thinking the cambelt had gone after 'too much' reading of the cambelt forum, getting my mate to tow it straight to the VW garage whilst breaking the speed limit...gotta be honest it was one of the scariest experiences ever, thought my car was going to end up in two.

They called today to tell me that my temperature sensor was dirty (i had noticed this), apparently the car tries to be all clever and cut out when it thinks there is a problem e.g. dropping to -5 degrees, this followed by the ECU noticing the car had stalled on the last two start ups....which caused the engine management light to come on!

So 5 mins later my car is back on the road and i've got one big grin on my face :)

it reads the vehicle for fault codes in the control units, it connects in the obdII socket, underneath the fag ash tray. hope this helps.
