2) An update of the 16V 1.4 engine (perhaps part of the GT range). With uprated brakes/new exhaust system to differentiate from the smaller engined models.

I thought VW's strategy was to focus on their FSI technology for future petrol engines(?). Therefore, I'd be a little suprised if they went down this route. Not dissappointed, but just suprised.

How the hell can you two tell thats a 16v badge??

Brakes are 298mm in diameter deek.....

They're defo bigger than standard on that car though.

Just noticed the lower sills. They seem to be different shape/colour. Though it could be that its 1am and i need some sleep!

Sorry Nelson, it's only just struck me about the 16V badge -- I was getting too carried away with my thoughts of a 1.8T.

So maybe you're right. Of course, sticking a big 1.8T / 4motion / etc badge on the back of a prototype car would kind of give the game away methinks

Trouble is, they're talking about a Polo GT (which we already know all about), not GTi - perhaps we've all been fooling ourselves?

Bummer. Looks like it will have to be a Honda Jazz Type R, then.

My personal feelings are that it is a tuners test car, for 3 reasons illustrated below.

1 - Golf GTi Alloys - A Polo GTi would surely have its own style of alloys? not cast offs from another GTi model.

2 - These harness slots are from these -

The Recaro Speed. Which happens to be one of Recaros most popular designs for street use.

3 - That second ariel looks frightenling like the one used on a Vbox - for those that dont know this is a small computer which you plug into your ECU and lets you monitor performance figs ie times.

and the 16v badge isnt on straight

so what does everyone else think?

and i sooooo badly wanted it to be the GTi

The base of the ariel is very similar to the models fitted with Sat Nav.

Remember this happened when the Polo mk4 GTi was being tested, we had all the spy shots but no release date. This car was eventually relased but in mk5 guise. Perhaps the same will happen again, what with the recent mk6 update Deek posted.

So lookout for the mk7 Polo GTi. Like Deek said better to go for the Jazz Type R, at least there are carshow shots.

I think thats definately a new backbox though. Perhaps another perk of the GT range? Or just the standard 16v backbox?
