Choosing the Right Wheels...Can any1 help???

New to the forum and i am currently in the process of buying new 17"
wheels for my polo 9n.

The wheels that i am planning on buyin are:

7x17", 205/40/17 , 5x100 et42

Can any1 tell me if this wheel is the right size and whether it will rub the arch.

Yep sounds fine to me.

Believe that might be the same size and offset as mine.

As far as I'm aware mine haven't rubbed and I'm lowere about 60mm

Same as me. Although I think my offset could be lower, not too sure tho. Tyre size and everything is fine. You willl need lowered at least 30mm for them to sit nicely in the arch. Although the lower the better i say (within reason). Just out of interest, What wheels are you getting?

mine are the same off set but with 205/45/17 tyres. because my skirts are low though. there must be a 2'' gap around the arch on the rear!!

Thanks very much. just what i wanted to hear, wasnt to sure as i am no genius as it comes to cars or the mechanics behind it.

The wheels i am getting are Lenso Elsegence

Isn't the offset meant to be ET38 or lower to fit on Polo's

as i believe thats what the standard wheels are. As If you have it too high it may rub on the shocks unless coilovers are used

higher the offset the further the wheels are from the hub and then surely the further away from the Shocks they are

And looking through my e-mails my wheels are ET35

better to stick with offsets ~35

42 may cause probelms when lowered.

What I meant was, As the offset gets lower (i.e from ET42 to ET35) the wheels are further from the hub so they are not close to the shocks

.

But yeah my old wheels were ET35 and I say too thats a good offset.

Though anything between ET25-ET38 would be fine.

Rears can even run ET15s without archwork if not excessively lowered

wheels look pretty good, quite like them wouldnt look right on my 6n2 tho.
