why do you think it's covered in carbon fibre, it does more than just look prettySilky V wrote:Although its enclosed, it doesn't stop it from absorbing the heat.loud wrote:thats why you get an enclosed one like the bmc, rather than a **** open oneSilky V wrote:In my opinion, the induction kit on the GTI isn't worth it.
The reason being is that the airbox sits on top of the manifold and ends up getting hot anyway. So there is no advantage to the induction kit except for the louder sound.
If the airbox was located on the side then it would be more benificial.
Its not heat resistant.

To be honest mate it happened so quick I missed it, although by how the road is, he should have perhaps have stopped if not slowed down to make sure no-one was coming.Silky V wrote:Yeh its ok. Minor scrub on the rub strip. That guy was ripping it. Did you think it was my fault?
Still, the plus point is that he didn't want to go through the insurance I suppose.
sorry fellas, but have to go against the tide and say induction kit made a huge difference on my TDi..
got no exact figures but all i know is when i go for it now while accelerating through the gears and i get a lil wheelspin in 2nd and 3rd!!
the amount of torque is ridiculous, along with the exhaust gave it a much deeper sound and after speaking to some rally car guy he explained cuz mine's a turbo it was worth it otherwise non-turbo's you're better off with a panel filter... plus my cold air feed sits alongside the engine

Your right. It'll make a difference on turbo cars and hardly any difference on a N/A car.way_z wrote:sorry fellas, but have to go against the tide and say induction kit made a huge difference on my TDi..got no exact figures but all i know is when i go for it now while accelerating through the gears and i get a lil wheelspin in 2nd and 3rd!!

olop_chris: - Your right. The standard pipe is more restrictive. Its the same thing on the MK4 golfs. What you've doen is the best thing to do.
Dee-vub: - A good air feed is always the key!! Just use the standard airbox and slip in a panel filter! - You know what you talking about.

Just fitted the one I bought off olop_chris today and tbh it has made mine 'slightly' more responsive, definitely no loss of power, but the sound is AMAZING.
I'll see how I go with it in terms of fuel consumption but I'm expecting the tank to do about 20-30 miles less (then again my GTi wasn't particularly good on fuel anyway, but do you expect a car that's built to be driven fast to be economical?).
