Got my car back!

Post by JKM_GTI »

Just in time for Xmas! Very happy with it, feels a lot smoother.

I picked my g/f's car up today (just passed her test, 02 corsa - I was driving it wishing my clutch felt as nice - now it does!)

I can definalty recommend the sachs clutch, it's sooo smooth and light! anyone with a gti that's gearbox has just gone, go for it, you'll feel alot better knowing all that money has changed some thing

My only issue is the biting point is rather high, but I can adjust that. I ended up paying £520 cash, which included fitting the clutch and new (recon'd) gearbox - with 12k or 12month warrenty.

Alun - I know you'll read this at some point, keep the polo, seriously, when they work they are ace cars!

Oh and now my exhaust is squeaking, think it is a mount or some thing, I did wack it one on a speed bump the other day

GTI smiles are back....but for how long

I dont agree - they are the biggest peice of s**t i have ever baught, it might look nice but it is held togeather with pritt stick i think, and you sertainly cant drive then like a proper GTI!!!

(Maybe i dont really mean this, just a unhappy bunny at the mo, bang went another gearbox)

I just wonder when I'll be able to drive my car again. Being back in the Mk7, it's nice and silky smooth with a silky gear change and brakes that actually work. Though going up hill in 4th is still slower than my GTI in 5th up the same hill.

What happened to your GTI? Gearbox?

I got the gearbox & clutch done by Gearbox Exchange in Harlington, Hayes (Bit of a long drive for me, but well worth it!)

Nothing yet but it will go eventually and put me in this situation all over again
