Radio Cutting Out

Hello all
My mark 4 with the orginal Sony CD player seems to just cut out when listening to the radio, giving me like a no reception noise, the stereo itself will happily play CDs when this happens but im not sure what is the cause of this. Could it be the aerial on the roof?, when the radio has been working I have unscrewed and the radio continues to get reception so I dont think its that.

My guess is either the radio itself or the aerial cable itself, which may mean a big old job taking down the headliner to replace.

I am using the orginal aerial etc.

Any help greatly appreciated

No offence mate but Sony headunits are GASH.Get shot of
it and buy the best that you can afford.In 18 years of driving
i've only had 3 Alpine headunits...haven't had a problem yet,in fact
my bro still has the first one i bought in his Rocco.

A fair point, but i gotta work out wot it is first lol, i dont think any CD/stereo player good or bad is supposed to randomly lose all frequency.
