Id like to put a stainless steel exhaust manifold on my GTI, but I want to keep my standard back box. Is there any point just changing the manifold? Any difference to the performance? The car louder? If so, how much louder is it? I want to keep the car as standard as possible because I like being a dark horse, lol. What makes do you recommend and estimate prices? Cheers peeps. Happy new year to you all

Ive just got a stainless manifold on mine with the standard exhaust, its not really much louder to be honest, it sounds good!

Performance wise, id say ive noticed the car to pick up easier through the rev range (who knows though)

I have a Raceland.

well i may not sell it, i have to find out from VW first......at the moment apparently it has been bodged on almost due to it not fitting correctly, its sitting way too close to the sump and has been vibrating and wearing my sump away...

ye well i havent chatted to my mate properly yet....when i was on the phone he said it wasnt fitted "correctly" OR it doesnt sit right and the downpipe i think has been rubbing against the sump but i am waiting for the gearbox to be done then im going to get it up and check it out myself to see what the deal is, if worst comes to worst i will put the original manifold on or get the downpipe changed to give more room.
