Irritating noise.......

Post by clees »

Hi folks,

I have just discoverd a really irritating noise which seems to be limked with the fan on my climate control. If the fan is on as normal there is a kind of tapping noise which seems to be behind the glove area, but if i turn the circulation button on it stops???

Any ideas??

Cheers

But is the noise pretty loud because it is in my car?

It's like a motor is stuck or something?

Cheers

If its pretty loud sounds like one of the flaps that directs the air to the different vents is jammed and the motor is attempting to move it causing the noise. Easy enough to fix from what I have heard however you need to take parts of the dash off to get to it.

I'm fairly certain (never done it myself) that if you remove the glove box you can get and the piping that has flap, the last time I read about this they simply removed it, lubricated it and put it back together and it worked ok. I'll try and find the post I read about it.

Well i've found the problem but can't solve it. As you go under the bonnet and take out the air filter you have the section which is linked to the fan/Climate control. The flap which directs the air appears to be stuck which causes it to make a really irrating noise. Now i've been told it's not the motor....... What can i do ???
