Engine management

Post by shantybeater »

Well...my fav light popped on yesterday, I had given the car a fair old trek of 300 miles to scouseland on the friday and then on the way back in heavy rain on sunday. As I approached home I had been matching the speed of fellow dub & had literally not dropped below 100mph for about an hour and a half so the car was straining for a bit! I then put my foot down and the car jerked and I felt power loss, this was followed by the engine management light, I slowed down and got ready to pull over expecting the worst, but before I did the light dissappeared and the car seemed to be fine.

The only thing I can think of that may have caused it is I turned the air con on a moment before, it hadnt been on all journey & I have noticed when you turn it on at a standstill outside the car you car hear a click and the rev's seem to be affected, I assume this is normal as its sapping power from the engine, could this have caused the powerloss?

Unless I read the above incorrectly, you spent an hour and a half at at least 100mph in heavy rain.

Not exactly responsible driving was it  .

yes the engine revs will drop abit due to the compressor kicking in and out for the air-con.
