Im running 16" oz wheels with 195/45r16 tyres on my 2001 gti, and get some rubbing on full lock! what i want to do is change the oz wheels for some bbs RC or RK2 wheels but wouldnt mind going for 17s with a 195/45r17! How much rubbing will i get on standard suspesion?? +who makes that size tyre??
To avoid rubbing, you may want to consider 195-40-17. If I'm not mistaken, Pirelli makes this size. Harry seems to be very pleased with them, and he hasn't had much (or any) rubbing issues.
i'm here not been well all week so not had a chance to come online, mate go for the 195/40/17 and you won't be disappointed even when you lower the polo (it will need lowering if you going for 17's).
hi jo by my reckoning i must be 70-75 mm low on the 17's you can't get a finger inbetween the arches what i will do is measure the front lip from the ground that will give an idea of how close it is, i'll get my friends digi cam and see if i can take some uptodate close ups for you.
