Long life servicing?

Post by chris4500uk »

How do I find out when my next service is due?

Its supposed to be on longlife servicing, I asked the garage to put longlife oil in and they 'said' they did. Also asked if they would reset the computer as well to which they said yes and it only takes a couple of key turns and buttons.

I thought you needed a vag-com or similar to reset the longlife service?

Is there any way i can check it is long life oil and also if they have reset my serving properly?

I might have to buy a vag-com I think.

? Cheers

The car decides when it wants servicing on Long Life servicing. Either that or every 2 years maximum.

Not entirely sure how you reset long life servicing. I know generally resetting the service reminder can be done through a combination of moves with the light switch but you wont find out any information from doing this. (the insturctions to actually do that are in your car manual)

yea, in the hand book it says that you can set the service reminder yourself for the short term, but for longlife it must be done by vw (guessing using their equipment)
