According to the buying guide the head gasket blows at 80k. mines a 1.3 cl coupe

Mine went at 80,520. When i showed this forum to my dad he said it was a load of rubbish and the gasket would go when it wanted. Thanks for proving him wrong.

Also the distributor cap has disintegrated, and i crashed it 4 months ago, so it's dead and i'm carless but being taken to see some naff peugeot today

I want my polo back

He is right, my old Polos had over 100k on them and they were on their original head gaskets.

Shame about the damage and the possible Peugeot purchase, can you not straighten the Polo up and use it again?

well, i did crash it back in early september, and did an inept repair job, which was a surprise it lasted this long. If you'd had seen the extent of the damage, you would think it was a write off. I hit a land rover defender at 20mph or so, and its tow bar went straight through the radiator
