HELP!!!!!
Can somebody help me...i'm undecided
I'm not sure whether to go for a '91 GT Coupe (standard) or an '83 Mk1 Golf GTi with (little mods) and does need work. At the moment i'm swaying towards the GT as i'm only 20 and the insurance should be cheaper (i'll be using it as a 2nd car too).

Best thing to do about the insurance issue is to shop around, the "standard" and "Polo" being the keywords in favour of the Polo.
Golf's are more expensive to insure as a general rule, just because of the name in some cases and the fact that here is a little "i" after the GT will automatically put insurance up high.
To be honest we can't decide for you, we can cast our oppions but we will be requiring some pictures and some more details.

Hi give a company called H.I.C a call they gave me a bonus where they would give me no claims on my polacy that i have built up on my other car. I run a polo gt as a second car which is played with quiet alot and i am also 20 i have insurance limited to 3000miles a year and it is £522 third party fire and theft i think it was an extra hundred to have it limited to 5000 mile but i didn't need it

It´s with elephant, far cheaper than everyone else i could find! Just get a quote on both.
Obviously asking on a polo forum, the majority of answers you will get will be the GT but if your up for the work needing doing on the GTI then personally i be tempted to go for that!

I pay £186 p.a fully comp on my 1ltr sq back but i'm an old git - 31
, as for which car mk1 or polo gt , i'd have the gt cos they will keep up with an 8v gti golf and you can do some sweet mods for f all , and the mk1 golf is getting on (20 years +) i've had 2 mk1 golf gti's a 1.6 and a 1.8 and i put loads of money into them and got sick of that so i sold them cos i'd of put shiz loads more into them to get them right
, if you want a mk1 golf buy one thats mint and had shiz loads spent on it (£4000 +) if not dont get one, buy a gt drop it put some new shoes on it and you have a quick fun car that stands out from the other small hatch backs
