Has anyone driven the 1.4 SE and the 1.4 FSI and noticed that the clutch is so different. I have been lucky enough to drive the 1.2 Polo Twist 65 bhp the 1.2 S, the 1.4S and 1.4 FSI and have noticed that the SE in particular has the most "touch sensitive" clutch. Slight mis-release and the car sways back and forth but with the FSI and Twist the clutch seems to have its own mind and almost delivers your foot to the "biting point"
Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this

Yes thats a given but there is a big difference between 1.4 75bhp and 1.4 86bhp FSI. The difference is enough to make you wonder how there can be such a difference. Yes the engine is different but technically it isn't as the 1.4 used in the 9N is the same 1.4 used after the 1.3 was scapped. The engine is researched and changed a bit over the years.
Let me explain. My friend has a 1.4 FSI and i have the 75bhp version. When you pull off in his car the clutch almost lifts itself correcting and irratic movements ironing out and rocking back and forth you somtimes get when your rushing.(I do anyway)
When you pull of in my car if you make a slight mis-jerk the car rocks back and front slightly. its not a problem its just a little observation I have made and was wondering if anyone else noticed this

I have a 1.4 SE and agree with your comments about the clutch, Tornado. I find that if I'm just taking things easy and letting the clutch out gradually and smoothly, the thing "snatches" like no one's business. On the other hand if I'm "pushing on", it's as smooth as you could hope for. Combine that with the *excellent* counter weighted gear change and that's largely what makes my car so much fun to push on in. In all the alterantives I've test driven just recently, I haven't found anything to match the Polo's gear change. Nothing.
Deek.
