Hiya guys,
Just need a little bit of advice. As you probably know I'm having new suspension fitted to my GTi soon & from reading on here it seems a good idea to replace the top mounts whilst I'm having it done.
Could anyone tell me exactly what bits I'd need for the GTi for front & rear?
Also I was thinking about getting some of the powerflex bump stops while I'm at it, do you think it would be a worthwhile investement?
Thanks a lot,
sally_healey

I had the top mounts and bearings changed on the fronts on mine. I think it is worthwhile as with the harder set-up, they will endure more punishment. Although upon examining the original top mounts, they were in pretty good nick for 5 years/35k miles.
For the rear I had items 11 and 12 on the following diagram changed, which are rubber type bushes, and therefore obviously prone to some wear:

Costs from vagparts are as follows:
Front
top mount £8.99 x 2
bearing £6.34 x 2
Rear
lower bearing £3.25 x 2
upper bearing £3.25 x 2
all prices would be plus delivery & VAT.
Whether to get powerflex bumpstops, would I assume depend on what suspension you are fitting and how low you intend to run the car. They would obviously last longer than OE items, but if anything I would opt for powerflex suspension bushes, as these would have more effect on the final result.

I placed an order with VAGparts for mine, the whole setup for front top mounts and rear bushes cost £56 inc. delivery.
See here
I didn't spec any powerflex bits but if the suspension is being upgraded it would be an ideal time to do it
Cheers
