I get the noise you're describing, a little. But it's virtually un-noticeable (I have to listen carefully for it which is tough with a BMC bolted on!) and I have noticed no trouble when engaging the gears or when driving in first so I'm not worried!

When you accelerate in reverse, in any car, you get that whine as the speed builds. Is this not down to the fact that you are in such a low ratio gear? So what with first gear being the next notch up the box you might expect the same effect but with a much much lesser volume. Flawed logic?

That makes sense. But it's p*ssing me off 'cause I'm convinced it wasn't there before.
Problay the bearings, i know youve just had the box done, but who knows what they have put in it

I had whining in all my gears when my gearbox went, but it started off being most noticeable in 1st, but then my box perished within a couple of days after that.
