Urgent advice needed – Brake lines rubbing! Replacements?
Urgent advice needed – Brake lines rubbing! Replacements?
My car recently failed it’s mot due to these rubbing on full lock (Front 2 wheels) I have been told because the car is lowered, the brake lines are bending outwards, meaning when the car is on full lock, they are catching the tyres.
I did ask the mot garage if they could be moved out the way, or if a guide could be fitted – I think on the original suspension, there was two black clips sticking out from the strut which kept them near and away from the wheels. My H&R coilovers have nothing on them, and I don’t recall seeing clips on any other coilovers?
It had been suggested I used shorter brakes lines; however, this may cause them to be stretched when lifting the car up – Also, where would I get hold of these? Is it just a case of cutting them down to the required size?
I have decided if they have to be replaced, I may as well try to upgrade them, hence the braided hoses (Plus if these do rub, at least they’ll be more protection on them, rather then just the rubber) and from what I have read, braided hoses are supposed to offer a quicker response?
What brake lines would people recommend? A quick search on google only brings up black diamond, or goodridge? (Although I couldn’t find my car listed on both sites!). If I fitted these, chances are I’ll have the same problem with rubbing? Do the kits come with guide?
The majority of people on here run seriously low cars; surely other people have encountered this problem before?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Joe
