GTi OMP strut brace lead times

Post by Si_GTi »

Some of you might know I ordered an OMP front upper steel strut brace from Demon Tweeks on the 3rd of January 2007. Delivery times were stated as "15-28 days". I'm aware that the item is shipped directly from Italy before Demon Tweeks then dispatch it to me, even so after just over three weeks it hadn't arrived so I chased it up and customer services said to ask again once 28 days had passed.

Well, today is the 31st of January and 28 days have passed since I placed the order. I contacted DT again and they told me they would enquire and come back to me with a delivery date. An e-mail has just arrived in my Inbox:

"Thank you for your recent order.

We have obtained new information regarding delivery dates for your order ref: *******. Please see below:

Item number : OMPMA1839 VW POLO 1.6 GTI 2000 FRONT UPPER STEEL ADJUSTABLE This part is now due into our stocks on or around: 28/02/2007
"

I was hoping that after 28 days the strut brace would be sat on my desk ready to fit!! Anyone else had trouble with lead times when ordering an OMP strut brace? Kind of wishing I had contacted the eBay seller strutbracer instead but he didn't respond to my question about how long his delivery times would be, so lost out on my business

I have to say sally_healey, it doesn't look good does it! You think yours will get here before mine?

What grinds my gears the most is that although I paid by credit card (online order), the bill is here now so I'll have paid for the item by the end of this week and won't actually have it for another month! :(

I'm thinking of chasing up my coilovers as I haven't heard anything form them yet. I was hoping they'd be in stock & the strut brace would be too but it's not looking like it is it? :(

I'll let you know if mine is in stock though, I'll even let you get a sneak preview????

Just spoken to them to check whether my coilovers were in & they are but they haven't phoned me to book an appointment for fitting because.......you guessed it they're waiting on the strut brace. I mentioned that I knew someone who'd been told that it may be the end of Feb & he said yes that's highly likely as we're having a few difficulties with the supply of them.

Anyways, they're going to release my coilovers so should be getting a call in an hour to book them in 8) & they're going to send the strut brace on to me when it does arrive in stock, I haven't paid for that yet though so will probably say I won't pay until it is in stock as the price I got for it was much cheaper than I could find elsewhere.

I know I know..... To be honest with you i was gonna leave it red and just take the Seat Sport sticker off but then i found out Hammerite do a shade of green that is a near perfect match for the Green Skoda use for the badges & calipers etc.... So i'm in the process of respraying it green. I then tracked down a place that do Skoda Motorsport decals so it'll have a Skoda Motorsport decal on it instead of the Seat one........ Something a little different and colour coded to the car etc... :)

Cheers

Dave.
