VW and Polo Icons...

Post by aussiepolo »

Hi all,

just spent a little time making some icons of the New Polo and the VW logo. Have a look:

I made these in and for Mac OS X (Transparent, 128x128). If anybody knows how to make them for windoze, let me know!

You can download the lot here. EDIT: The zip file had an error in it, the new .sit file is now on the server.

Hope you likes,

Chris

PS: If you want yours iconized, send me a PM to let me know and e-mail a pic of your ride, at least 200 x 200 pixels.

Changing icons...

Post by aussiepolo »

Hi,

to change the icons of a folder or application you have to do the following:

1 select the icon you want to use and 'control'-click it and selct 'get info from the menu.

2 click on the icon's picture to selct it and copy it.

3 Select the folder or application you want to change and 'control'-click it and selct 'get info from the menu.

4 click on the icon's picture and and paste the new icon into it.

That's all there is to it.

Chris

PS: The icons were made on an iBook :D

Awesome stuff, aussiepolo.

There are some apps out there can can convert Mac icons into pngs (and possibly windows icons as well).

I'll look into it tonight and see what I can do.

(BTW, I can't - for the life of me work out the Aussie Polo range - there doesn't seem to be any technical info on VW's Aussie site and you can only get the smallest car in a 3dr -- this can't be right can it??)

(You see, I might - just might - be heading out to Brisbane soon - telephone interview on Tuesday!!!)

Would it be possible to create some with my car?

how are these created? is it a matter of re-sizing them then saving em as a png (and cant you do this in Photoshop?)?

Thanks in advance

Hey Karl,

here you go:

Image

The icon looks better for real, the jpg is a little too compressed...

To download click here. The sit contains both a mac icon and a windows .ico file. If it doesn't work, let me know.

Have a look at www.railheaddesign.com the guy makes some fantastic icons and just wrote up a tutorial on how to do it. All you need is Photoshop and Iconbuilder Pro.

Hope you like your icon,
Chris
