So angry! (Rant!)

Post by Mouse_GTI »

Well after mucking up my front badge my dad kindly sanded it down so I got it primered tonight. That's 24 hours wasted. Now I primered the rear badge last night, so tonight I sprayed the reflex silver over it.. Left that to dry a few hours then tried the laquer. All went well until a big hair got stuck on the badge so I tried to scrape it off, and now it's left a mark. Tried rubbing off the primer but it's screwed up the paint so now I got to wait for it to dry, sand it down then primer it again (another 24 hours) paint it (another 24 hours) then put on the laquer (another f*****g 24 hours) and I ain't got that time. The car looks crap as it is with all the scratches, stone chips and corroded bits, and I can't even make good badges after £35 and 2 days! And now I can't go out tonight as I've missed the bus because of this f*****g badge. So angry just now, I feel like a complete 'tard! Just want the car to look good but it costs so much :(

I know how you feel mate, my first one was a bit like that.

Luckily though the 2nd time was enough.

I've done about 4 more since for other people :D

I wasn't happy with the paint in the first place before I did the laquer, it had heaps of imperfections and crap, but I just accepted it. Tried sanding it down just now but it won't budge

Car will look great tomorrow with a gaping hole in the front grill and a black sticky pad on the boot

I am absolutely crap at painting, seriously!

Every time I try to spray something, I have to do it about 5 times.

I get so impatient, and always put too much on and it goes bubbly or runs.

I should really just take stuff to a body shop when I need it painting and pay someone who knows what they're doing to do it.

Yeah I get other people to do it too

Classic example was when I bought my de-locked door handles, I knew of no reputable bodyshops near me so I went to the body shop at my local dealership... £80 for the pair to be done  but on the plus side, a first-class finish, no doubt!

In your position Mouse, I would have bought a second front and rear badge to play with, that's generally the approach I take to these sort of things :)

As Bob says, practice makes perfect!

Cheers

And I was considering to colour code my front splitter after all, no chance lol. I got a short fuse when it comes to things like this and I'm exactly the same with bad drivers. I'm just a little picky
