Do you do this? Is it worth learning to do in your opinion? Are there any other quick gear change methods that you use.
Personally I try to do this on downshifts all the time so it becomes second nature to me on the track and at first it is quite hard and seems to take forever but now there is not much difference in gear change times.
Do you do Double De Clutching?

I do blip the throttle when changing down and in a suzuki jeep I had I didnt use the clutch all the time as I could change gear cleanly if the revs were matched as in the article. I have occasionally driven vehicles with crash gearboxes (30's stuff), but i could never master double declutching, I used to come to a halt before I'd got the next gear.
Proper double declutching... I think it has a place in modern cars as it is more sympathetic to the gearbox and engine, but tbh I've never used it in any car ive had.

Nope, I can, but there's no point doing it in a modern car.
I blip change when I'm in one of the trucks or the van with a load on (particularly round hills). Most normally in a manual car, I use very little clutch at all. Done wrong, it's not great for the gearbox, but if you know the car, it's the best way to look after the clutch and gearbox. My old Panda's clutch was near dead when I got it, and no worse when I got rid 20-odd k later, so it must work.

i've tried but i does seem to take ages. i do it all the time in our second world war style jeep but thats a whole different ball game!
however, after chatthing to a policeman friend of mine, he told me about a thing called substained idle (i think). basically, you keep your revs up while changing gear so that when you lift the clutch, your revs are already matched! i do that quite alot, give a smoother drive!
