Don't take it to a garage to fit man! You can do it yourself, its easy and fairly quick to do if you take your time and prepare. I fitted a new backbox last night in about 2 hours (45mins spent cutting lower rear bumper tho)!

You're gonna need some axle stands which are about £10 from Halfrauds to support the car while you mess about underneath it.

When you replace the back box it's a good idea to replace all additional parts. They're all fairly cheap. First off you're gonna need two new rubber attachment things for the backbox from your local VW Dealership Parts Dept (Part number 1H0253144C). You'll also need 4 new nuts and bolts (part number 111821145) and a piece of pipe to connect the backbox pipe to the midsection pipe (sorry don't have the part number).

You'll also need a socket set or some spanner. If I remember correctly most of the nuts are between 13mm - 15mm, so make sure you have those sizes.

Removing old backbox
I got my old backbox off by undoing the two sets of nuts attaching the actual backbox to the chassis via the rubber things. I then loosened the jubilee clip clamping the backbox pipe to the midsection pipe and pulled the two pipes apart and throwing the old clip away.

Replace rubber things on backbox mounts

Fitting new backbox
Using new parts, refit is the reverse of removal (fu-cking haynes!)

If you want any more help shoot me a PM or consult Haynes!

Good luck and don't give up. You'll learn a lot and that exhaust will sound 100 times better if you fit it yourself :)
