1.4 16v hesitation/flat spot

Post by kevl45 »

Hi, I own a 2003 polo 1.4 16v which i love, with the exception of an anoying hesitation when moving off and on some gear changes.
I bought the car as used from a vw dealer and is still under warrenty untill April they have had it back 6 times to find the fault but as the fault comp doesnt come up with a code there can be nothin wrong with it.
I have heard people complain about 1.4s with this problem before, VW tell me they know of no such problem. I have driven another 1.4 16v by request of WV cust services and it dosnt have the same problem and is a smoother drive, the dealer is now goin to change the coil packs on my car to see if that helps.
Has anyone on here had the same problem? and if so was it ever cured

Thanks kev

Welcome to the forum 8)

Can't say I've had this hesitation but VW launched modified coilpacks, try changing them all with these ones and change the sparkplugs too.

I treated my car to some top notch non-standard sparkplugs - they are Bosch Super4's and I highly recommend them. I've noticed a significant improvement since changing them :D

its an 04 polo and still in warrenty..... butttt. i found running a few tanks of optimax through it sorted it out.

Been using Total fuel in the last few months, dont think changing my fuel will make a lot of diff? Will give the V power a try, apprently its meant to clean ur tank of crappy deposits?
