Im sick of the funny grey coloured dash and door cards of my car. So ive decided there going to be black!
The plan is to rip the dash out this weekend and get to work.
Im gonna sand the dash down a little just to make sure the surface is clean and good for the paint to stick to, then a coat of plastic primer, a quick going over with fine sandpaper and a few coats (as nessasary) of gloss black
Has anyone else done this?
Any advice would be great.
must be easier to get a black interior in there than painting your own. If you must paint it, maybe try satin black instead of gloss for a more factory look?
i was tempted by flocking the dash for a rally look, but the ibiza has a black dash standard.
well the problem is ive never seen a 6n dash in plain black.
I was thinking of satin black actually because i thought the gloss might be quite bad if its really sunny because it would probably create quite a glare.
ive noticed the newer 6ns have the very dark grey like mine n i fink the light grey look horrible ,
a few months back i was finkin of doin some sprayin on the inside , was finkin of goin red tho but changed my mind
Yea. Mine is the really dark grey ... but its still not close enough to black lol.
And its the sort of job that just takes time and effort no cash lol so ill give it a try definately ... and if it all goes wrong ill be looking for a 6n2 dash lol
a mate of mine did a similar thing of which you are talking about,, but he did there club logo,,which was fine but it just baked under the magnification of the sun through the screen and cracked............which was a bastard....
Just my tuppence worth, but I've seen painted dashes before, and the end result is not nice. If they get chipped, they look terrible, and the finish is never anything like OEM. I say dont bother!!
I have a 96 6N with a black dash, it looks quite smart. I'm sure a scrapper would only charge a few quid...
