Where to get I.C.E installed?

I dont know a thing about installing/wiring I.C.E into the car. I am thinking of gettin subs/amps/speakers from halfords bcos they offer the service of installing it aswel.
Where do u guys get urs done (if u dont do it by urself)

I got mine done at a place called SQ+, they're not the cheapest by any means but are 1 of the best in the UK.

From what I've heard about Halfords, you'd be better off trying to find a local audio shop that can supply and fit what you want.

Thanks for the reply. I've been looking for a whole package (cd head unit, amp, boxed sub and speakers) but I cant find a decent one.

depends on you budget. how muych you looking to spend in total. bear in mind youll need, h/u + amp + sub + box + wiring as basics. then depending on what type of music you listen to and whether or not you want to upgrade in the future youll have to mix n match, or buy more speakers etc etc.

stick up your budget and lets see how it goes.

this is what i put into my GTi really good head unit
it takes SD cards,has lots of toys (if you like that sort ov thing) and its touch screen,..... just dont scratch it

When Putting in Components and subs and Amps Etc, your always Better to try and Stick With the Same Make throught! Ie i run infinity Subs, Amp, Components and Tweeters and Pioneer headunit, the Only Headunits i would Really Consider is Alpine or Pioneer, Thats My Choice.

Reason i run infinity is that they are a good make and brand and perform well, Also i got my Amp for £75, Retailled at Over £300

Me and my mate built the boo install ourselfs and fitted everything ourselfs, ie speakers etc, there a piece of p*** do mate.

id disagree with that mate. i prefer to mix n match. this has many advantages because prices will vary. you can much better equipment

this is a dls package. dls are a very good brand but like any other they have theye ups n downs. i think there strong point is their amps and comps. theyre subs are good but i dont think they match up to the hype that their amps + comps recieve. that sub is valued at 99.99 if bought separately, now for a minutre lets just take the sub out and minus 99.99 from the package price. this leaves you with UPTO 99.99 to spend on a sub. going through the list of subs on that site, these subs are not only cheaper but will be much better compared to the dls one.

all of the above will probably be a better choice compared to the dls sub.... and theyre all cheaper, even if by a few pounds

so you see what i mean, mix n match has lots of advatages. sticking to the same brand is fine and will perform but it will have its limits.

A agree there, I went with the same make for comps and sub, but a different make for the amps.

It's not always the best thing to have all the same kit.

Again at the End Of the Day its down to personal choice, your budget and what type of music you listen too, But fair play to the Above points, Just i Liketo have all My Equipment the Same

I would recommend a local ICE shop if you have one. I go to www.mf2k.com, and as previously mentioned, SQ+ is also very good.

Have a look at the forums on www.talkaudio.com - loads of good help there.

Some car audio companies do deals on same manufacturer component packages, and those can be very good as the components are generally well matched to each other.

Once you get more into Car Audio, you will be in a position to choose individual components from different manufacturers and match them to each other yourself. Certain manufactuers are very very good at one or two components, but don't offer the full range.

I run equipment from four manufacturers - Alpine, Genesis, Dynaudio and Diamond Audio. I chose the componets ass they are well balanced with each other.

As Ian said, other factors to think about are budget and your preferred listening material.

I have a particularly SQ-oriented installation, and have great pleasure in listening to good "SQ" tracks (e.g. Michael Jackson/Madonna/Pink Floyd/SQ Test CDs).

For day-to-day, I listen to a wide range of material, from Heavy Rock to Dance to Pop to Opera.

And some days there is a requirement for very loud Prodigy.
