Seat problems

Post by shantybeater »

Since buying my polo the drivers seat makes an annoying squeak when i'm driving along or if i move in a certain way, this has become increasingly annoying as its not very quiet..

I tried spraying oil into left and right sides of the back of the seat & have also tried lubricant....but if anything its got worse...has anyone got ANY ideas how I can stop it short of throwing my whole seat out of the car.

It's driving me frigging mental.....when i first test drove the car the car sales man actually said "don't worry about that squeak in the seat its just the cleaning products we have used"....BASTARD...IM GOING INSANE

someone tell me they have had the same problem and fixed it..

I have the same problem with my seat, and i agree, its really really annoying! I had a look at the fixings and mechanisms a while back, but nothing seemed to be loose, just seems like a lot of play in the mechanisms?

Let me know if you come up with a fix for the annoying squeaks and clunks!

no it seems to be coming from the left side of the seat next to the handbrake where you can adjust the height, but annoyningly the squeaks and creaks are coming from inside the seat :(

its a simple fix - dont eat for a week.

Sorry i aint no help - have you tried wd40-ing both sides and winding it up and down a few times to make sure it is into all the parts that move?

Mine does the same, as did my old 1.0E Mk5.

Only way I've found to 'cure' it is to adjust the seat back position until it lessens the squeeking. Not to be attempted on the motorway though!

Mine does it too. Just turn the stereo up :D

And also when the seats are pulled forward for people to get in the back, they never stay there, they always fall back into postition  Which is really annoying

Mine does this also, i tried the WD40 tick, but it just ended up making mine car smell of it.

I've also found that moving the seat into another position makes the noise go away for a few days.

Yup mine does it too. Tried a white grease spray on all the moving parts I could find, No help at all. It sounds like its coming from inside the seat like someone mentioned earlier. :(
