Back-box problem

Hey guys,

i was having a look under my car today, and noticed, to my horror, that my back box looked as if it had been ruptured!

Any ideas what this could be, or mean for my back-box?

Is it the end of the line for the box? and would anyone recommend that i get a new Volkswagen one, or for the same price as VW would charge, just get one that looks nicer? if i did the latter, i could get rid of my induction kit.

Your car is a few years old isn't it? It's just normal wear and tear so will just need replacing.

I have pretty much no knowledge of when your back box needs replacing but i'm guessing it having a hole in it would be a yes.

No idea what VW charge, if your rents will let you get an aftermarket back box get one and get rid of the induction kit.

cool, cheers mate, well, i'll see if its causing a noise, maybe take it to VW, but im guessing they would charge to take a look?

Aye quite possibly charge to have a look. You might as well take it anywhere if you're going to get someone to have a look. Local garage or exhaust specialist

done, he had a look, it was just the outer skin.

he said i'd get another few years yet...
