hang my head in shame
on my way home from work a pug 106 gti pulled up next to me at the lights so i took a look at the driver and we both nodded heads which means its on, lights turn green off we go down the uxbridge road. we were neck'n'neck thru 1st,2nd and 3rd, 4th gear and he pulled ahead i finally got back level and 5th gear the guy left me in the dust while all this was happening a poxy saxo was trying his best to keep up. i have never been more a shamed of myself for not even keeping it level.

Nothing to be ashamed of.... I had a 106 gti before and they are well rapid, faster than the polo gti anyway.
If it's any consolation, they are completely unreliable, poorly built, buckets of french poo. They are worth just a bit more than the lowly saxo, and look a bit dated. Overall, my 106gti ownership experience was a big thumbs down

Bare in mind his is stripped out with a de-cat back system + BMC (pff)

Its the power to weight I think the 106 GTi is about 150kg lighter and on the rollers 140-145bhp is around what a 106 GTi with decat exhaust and induction kit. The most I've seen a Polo GTI run is 143bhp, my friend had a 106 GTI and it was a lot quicker after about 90 as the Pugs engine pulls harder high up the revs where the Polos engine is more midrange grunt.
On a twisty road a 106 GTI would eat alive a Polo GTi I gave the Polo the trashing of its life and couldn't even stay close to the Pug. Once he had done the suspension and lowered it was even a bigger gap he could pull. Never under estimate a 106 GTI they get a bad rep for no real reason, friend had less go wrong with his that I did with my Polo.

Yeah polo gti will get nowhere near a pug gti am afraid
of the top of my head the the only 1.6 N/A that could beat the pug gti would be the good old ek civic vti 1.6vtec 160bhp standard thank you please
then if you want to get silly add a manifold, exhaust and induction and 170-180 bhp your laughin
Then if you want to get outrageous get the ek civic type r 185 bhp from a 1.6 standard
Cheers
