Air-con regassing

Post by Bryony84 »

My air-con picked the best weekend to decide not to be very cold, I'm guessing it needs regassing as I don't have any documentation saying its been done before.

Supposedly the gas is the same as we put in out refridgerated containers at work and they will fill it up for free, but would it be better to get it done at a garage - I can get it done at mates rates for £40.

£40 for aircon regassing is pretty good considering VW charge around £70-99 depending on the season.

I know with VW for example they also check for leaks and other problems with the aircon system along with the actual regassing.

if you've got the £40 to spend on it, then it's probably the better option just for the added peace of mind.

I had mine regassed by a bloke who was doing the a/c in a shop we were refitting. Cost a quarter pounder, a mars bar and a can of coke. It's worked fine since :D

£40 mates rates?
lol give over.
It will cost around £6 for the gas, and take no longer than 5 minutes to top up the gas.

Hmm, maybe i'll just get the gas and ask him to do it then? Any ideas where I could get it from?

Retail price on our 404A gas is £23.63 per KG.
But as a refrigeration company we only pay £7.30 per KG.

If you can get it filled up for free then do that.
It doesn't need a garage, when the put on the gauges they will see if there is a problem.

Ive been toying with the idea of getting something similar to this, i saw a kit somewhere (cant remember which site) which included both a canister to reseal any leaks, and the gas for around £45.

Doh. You should at least have tried getting high on helium, it makes you speak funny. But inhaling air con gas, really, that's bananas man
