Post by nutter guy »

well the 6n 6n2 chassis is essentially the same, so if you can find a gti engine, engine loom possibly clocks too g'box and drive shafts/breakes. should be largely a question of swapping it over.

though i could be completely wrong. but i'll not admit that.

i wouldn't bother getting the polo gti gearbox though after all the problems that fellow members have had with them!
i think many people would recommend getting the later lupo gti 'box with the close ratio 6 speed.

or a sequential rally style one! with a quaife LSD! :P

tbh i hate the fact my 1.6 8v has 75 bhp and all the poke of a worm :(
i always thought it'd be interesting to slap a turbo or s/charger on the engine and see what happens.... it'd need a bit of tweaking so it didnt explode... but i bet it would do well.

The only thing with that Dan, is it would have to be a Lupo GTi engine then as the Lupo 6 speed box doesn't fit the Polo GTi engine.

I'm sure we'd all have one if it did

engine slots straight in,two ways of getting past the loom issue 1st to fit dash etc from gti to your car or mate the two looms together. you will need for the conversion

engine and box (obviously)
wiring loom and ecu
drivers side engine mount
pedal box (for the dbw)

think thats everything i can remember :D

would also help to upgrade brakes front and back to gti spec

lupo 6 speed box does fit a polo gti engine

if i was going to do it again i would go down the lupo route. bit more work but worth it

you need everything to do with the box though like pedal box clutch master cylinder, slave cylinder, cables gear, selector mechanism and fluid pipes although you could make pipes up i suppose :D
