Post by garnier »

Has anyone ever had a quote from a bodyshop before to have handles removed and completely smoothed?

You just buy the rears off the 5 door to de-lock.

Don't do it! My convertible has no door handles. There opened by a remote solenoid. Its easy to set up a solenoid. Thing is, the solenoid's are a rubbish design and fill up with water. They then seize. You then get locked out your car and look like a right d*ck trying to break into your own car at 12 at night in the middle of town in newquay with your alarm going off.

hahaha. That's a good point. Between that and the chance of the paint/filler cracking I don't think it'd be a good mod.

I got my handles removed n smoothed. I wouldn't advise it unless your gettin it done properly. The solenoid really has to be a strong heavy duty one cause it needs alot of power to actually open the door such as the TVR ones. I had to have my door lock hinge moved out a bit so it actually opened the door and it looked like the door wasn't shut properly this had an effect with the alarm which didn't work right which was a pain in the arse. The lock just isn't really designed for this as i found out and sometimes it didn't work and so on.
