this is driving me mad !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Any help

Post by darranwrx »

As the title says
i've had my Gti for about 3 months, so far never encounted half the probs i've read about on some threads :o
but one prob seems to effect 90% of Gti owners is that the car suffers from stuttering or fuel starvation probs/juddering
This is what started happening to mine a few weeks ago,So i tried the Redex option but didnt have any effect- THIS IS REALLY P***ING ME OFF
not to mention i think its using more petrol.
If i accelerate hard it does'nt really do it. you can feel it through the full car in 2nd,3rd,4th and now its started in 5th this happens at low revs :? :?
I've had the RAC look at it but they couldnt find anything wrong,All the guy did was to clean the leads and cover everthing in WD40

Took it to VW for one of there guys to take it for a road test but when we went out it did'nt really do it (Bloody typical !!) he suggested changing the fuel filter, which got done last week also the plugs have been changed aswell. i need to know what else it be maybe the timing belt ??? :(
there is no lights on the dash so i dont think there is any fault codes, the VW guy did mention it could be a miss fire, but they wanted to book it in but thats gonna cost
The leads ( still the orignal red ones)did have some corrsion inside of them but cleaned them, also tried a gallon of carb cleaner into it, but made little effect ??
Now im stuck what to do next its either gonna cost me for VW to look at it or someone else
Please help as someone has got of sorted this out :!:

It may be worth investing in some new HT leads. They only seem to last between 50 - 60k

Have you run VAG-COM on your car yet??

Sound like a coolant temp sensor to me!

VAG COM is the diagnostic program for the VW audi group basicly it scans your ECU for any fault's it detected and/or stored.

To be honest reading through that again it does sound like HT leads but if I where you I'd get the diagnostics run on0 it first before waisting more money on what will probably turn out to not be the problem anyway!!!

I assume you'v cleaned the throttle body ?
