Its gone to the garage!

Post by Bryony84 »

Well my Polo was dropped off at the garage this morning to have the gearbox fixed! Crossing my fingers now that they don't find anything else wrong to bump the price up!

Finally heard back from the garage, should be ready to pick up tonight. They found a wheel bearing that needed replacing as well so they have fixed that as well as doing the gearbox, although they didn't call me to let me know this which I'm a bit annoyed about!

Looking forward to getting it back though.

If you see this before you get the car then Bryony, try to get out of paying for the bearing as they didn't tell you they were doing it.

Thanks Tom, I didn't see it before I left, but my boyfriend had told me the same thing so I argued it a bit, also they have put my wheel alignment right out when they did it so I managed to knock a bit off the price. Very pleased with it, gearbox feels lovely and the clutch is lighter for some reason despite the fact that they said it didn't need changing anytime soon. Only annoying things are the wheel alignment and the fact that only 2 out of 3 of the noises are gone!

The gearbox whine/crunching is gone, the funny squeaky noise from the passenger side (wheel bearing) is gone. But the grindy noise that makes it sound like a taxi is still there. He said he didn't know what was causing it and figured i'd probably rather have the car back for the bank hol wkend than leave it there til next week so he could carry on trying to find out what it was!
