9N brakes wierd

Just wondering do people think the 9N brakes are quite weirdly sharp? Been driving another car today and compared to that the brakes are really sharp and its not so smooth at stopping.

Never noticed this just wondering if anyone else thinks so too? Not quite sure whether its normal or not...

Yeah i know what you mean.

My brakes are sometime's not a lot of braking and then lots (fairly new brakes too)

mie are good most of the time but sometimes they judder like they r warped or sumthin but our friend at ats has ahd a look and he says they are fine.

lol yeh, my mate has a 02 reg Fiesta, drove that for a bit. And i swear, no exaggeration, theres like a 1-2 second delay on the brakes! they dont really respond either, I had to really push hard to get a good response out of the brakes lol.

When switched back to me 9N, it really surprised me on how sensitive my brakes are! I feel so much safer in my 9N

Yep exactly the same as that and mine are fairly new too.

Also, as you reach to a hault does your car also jerk a little forward and then back again (its very little but noticable and makes a little noise as well). Mine does this too and not sure if this is normal, can't see anything wrong but it just don't feel right

i find my 9n aweful compared to my bro's mk4 golf and mam mk5 gti. the gti stops on the spot! top class
whereas her old mk5 gt tdi was terrible! worse than my 1.2 and vw would not have it. they insisted they were good brakes

mine stops ok, but i've driven alot better. im going to uprate mine i think this year

Never jerks nope. Mine feel perfectly safe but wish the braking was more consistent over the pedal travel.

Never jerks nope. Mine feel perfectly safe but wish the braking was more consistent over the pedal travel.

Might just be me then, does stop fine, just doesn't get to a complete stop very smooth and inconsistent pedal travel too. Might try having the brakes bleeded see if that helps.

Yea, I found mine were really sharp. I put this down to the soft pads that VW use as my wheels are also covered in brake dust every week! I've bought some new pads as mine are almost done so i'm gonna put them in and see how it goes.

yeah sounds like some brakes need sorting on here.

mine are fine, discs all round does help with the sharpness though. still some fade when braking hard though - not as good as my passat was. however some better pads would sort it I'm sure.

if anyone is after some new pads i have some for grabs... they were for a 1.4 9n (genuine VW/Audi ones) not sure what else they will fit.

not many people know this but VW actually modified the brakes on the 9n3 to deal with the sharpness issue

Mine are discs all round too and the Brakes work perfectly fine and safe just the sluggish and slightly noisy hault. Noticed the brakes make a little howling noise when applied too

Was told by a mate it may be the spring at the back of the pads causing the pads to move inside when braking or maybe just needs to be bled.

When I purchased my polo 9N the previous owners service history showed brake or ABS pump faulty being faulty at about 30,000 it cost about Â£500 for an pump from VW.
