my new purchase!

Post by Sunburntfreek »

hey all, dont know if you remember but a while back i was saying about how im saving for a gti and how i was reading up info from you guys.
WELL wednesday just gone i went and bought myself one! and going from a 1.4 corsa 'vegas' ( a one up from a merit, and the only difference is, its got central locking and still no power steering lol)
after reading all your positive comments on them i can completly see where you were all coming from, its a BEAST!,
well anyway ill put some pics up for you.
its a W (2000) with only 14150 miles on the clock! :D, real good condition with only 2 very small ''carpark'' dents and a couple of chips. one wheel is slightly curbed and one wheel is started to corrode! but other than that its like nearly new! full service history (done every 2000 miles)

what you all think!? im now incredibably happy! :D :D :D :D

Well done! Paintwork looks very shiny. How much did it set you back with that mileage?

cost me 5000, went all the way up to leatherhead junction 9 off m25 for this one! and i live near exeter! worth it though! is anyone actually from down here?! or just me lol, erm not sure yet i will probably sort those minor chips out first! make it as tidy as possible!,
going to uprate my speakers (speaking of which what size are the door speakers and rear speakers? also if i replace the head unit will the multichanger be fully functional or not?!) but other than that not much because i need money for that!!! which i dont have much of now, insurance is a killer for me now!

The fronts are 6.5" and I'm pretty sure the rear ones are as well, as for an aftermarket headunit with the OEM changer, that won't work I'm afraid.

Easy way for the manufacturers to make money.

I bought a £400 JVC headunit for mine that plays DVD-Video/Audio. Sound quality is great and it has blue lighting to fit in with the dash. Was gonna go for the VW MFD double DIN sat nav but wouldn't use it much, plus sound quality was higher on my list. Only bummer with the JVC as Tom said is it ain't compatible with the OEM changer, however since it can play MP3 CD's it sort of redeems itself.

Looked at Alpine/Pioneer units as they would of been a little better for sound quality, but imo they look butt ugly and stick out like a sore thumb in the dash.

Now that's a nice one!

Forgot to add, you should get your cambelt changed a.s.a.p as the car is 7 years old and it should be done every 4

Looking very nice there dude! And yes both sets of speakers are 6.5"

I've upgraded the fronts on mine to JL Audio Evolution components and will be chaging the rears once funds allow :)
