Yeah its like a communal car park, theres 2 rows of houses, and inbetween is the carpark its out one rows front door and the other rows back door. And I live on Housing Association so theres lots of kids and parents scooting around in the carpark on scateboards and playing football and sh1t, sometimes you even get full on basketball nets and swingballs out there, I cant complain though when i was littler Me and my mates used to draw tennis courts on the floor and use the metal bar fences as the net.

I park mine some way from my front door (to avoid the wall where the kids sit and all the overhanging trees) so it means getting all i need, trapsing over the car park, and then everyone gets really interested in you, when i get my laptop ill post some of my de-rusting pics up and you'll see what i mean, i think i had about 10 people hanging around me at one point, no joke. For a girl who knows not so much about cars its quite intimidating!

I know what you mean about lack of electrics, its more raw. But it has its down sides, like noise for example. Although i swear my engine isnt meant to be that loud.

Im quite glad i have no surplus electrics really, less can break! As lum does like to break!

What mark does that make the car your getting? MK4?

In all honesty I really wanted an MK2, I only realised that after getting the car though. I didnt really know what a polo was until it turned up on my door step! I have now seen the light :P

Mine put me back 300 but it only had 49k and almost a years MOT which is my main thing, it was in pretty good nick, the now ex who found it for me said it was worth 600, i duno about that.

Think its funny i paid the same for the wheels as i did the car! hehe

My god you can tell im at work, im foruming for england!

I've heard a lot of lads say that. I really dont understand why....if it was her money, ok fair enough. But its not!

Its girls like that that gives us all that god damn awful gold digging rep.
The only way I irritate guys when it comes to money is insisting on paying stuff. I can remeber my first date with my first boyfriend. We actually left my fiver for ice skating on the pavement as i wouldnt let him pay and he didnt want my money! lol bless, those were the days!

You sound exactly like my girlfriend :P Cant get a word in when it comes to money hehe.

As for the car, ye im in my element when im taking cars apart - i love it. Its nice to just work on a car for the day. No phone, no computer no nothing just pure enjoyment.

The polo is a mk4. Never been overly keen on the base spec ones, so theres alot of work to do to bring it up to date. I may even sell it once im finished :D

Post some pics of this land rover - i want to see the pimpedness :D Is that even a word!?

Pretty cool looking Defender that.

My parents have got a Defender 90 County Station Wagon. They've literally just bought a 52-plate Range Rover TD6 as well.

Tempted to see if they'll sell me the Defender; been thinking of buying one since I passed my test but I'd prefer a pickup.

My mums boyfriend is selling a defender for just under 10k if memory serves. Its green short wheel base and because its late i cant think if its a TD10 or 9. Thats even if thats anywhere near correct...

God damn this caffeine has ruined my mindset lol.

He does alot of green laning with the essex land rover ownerss club or whatever its called. Just had a nice new clutch aswell.

Something ive always wanted to get into is green laneing. Sept i want a four wheel drive caddy not some pooey land rover   lol.

I mock them but i suppose they're alright machines. Not spectacularly reliable from what ive seen though :?

Hes gonna buy himself an old old old landy for that now though as a shiny new one is not good when it breaks. That and tax on 4x4's is insane as we all know.

im ranting now ill shush.

Think someone might want to try de-caff

Land Rovers and reliability, yeah not things that tend to always go hand in hand. However I think the only real mechanical problem my parents Defender has suffered from has been one of the brake calipers sticking once or twice.

Biggest issue is however rust. And the water leaks. And the rattles from the interior. All part of the 'experience' apparently.

Oh no none of that my friend. Its a coursework marathon tonight so caffeine is a must lol.
The thing with new defenders atleast is what i call "dumb technology"

Why the hell do you need an electronic accelerator thing when a cable is just as good surely?? Which is gonna be more prone to ballsing up a cable or a sensor? I can tell you which cos his went a while ago lol.

That and why in gods name is there a whole in the compartment that houses the battery which leads to the underside of the car?? one deep puddle and not only is your arse wet but your battery has just shorted out? (havnt see this happen just common sense speculation)

Bit of a dumb idea isnt?

 I've currently got two 4000word essays to write for Monday, not going to well.

Putting the TD5 engine with the fly-by-wire throttle into the Defender was possibly Land Rovers biggest mistake with that vehicle. They had so many problems with the mapping on it when first launched, and other reliability issues that the values for pre-TD5 Defenders are still very high. It's also why the British Army continued to use the old engine because of the reliability worries, and the problems with fixing it in the field because of the electronics.

I will say one thing for the TD5 though. I've seen one with a remapped ECU off-roading, and that thing was unstoppable it had so much torque. Also the noise off with it being 5-cylinders was like an old skool Audi Quattro, rather cool.

Lol yeh they definitely are beasty machines. My mums boyfriends dad used to have the same land rover off the tomb raider movies with a few extra modifictaions (hes rudy loaded lol)

Such as:

Even more bloody flood lights (front and back)
Nice head unit
and finally: a small iron jack russel statue bolted to the bonnet lol

Ive driven it a few times and it was a monster off a machine. nothing more fun then driving down the lanes in what feels like a monsetr truck and with the floods on tis like daylight outside the cab lol. You can see everythign for fricking miles.

Ah you knwo the sting also lol. I have a bit mroe time then that. 3000 spoken words on "Jean Luc Godards use of the female image". Have to giev a lecture on it to my class. Everyone else picked the simple topics i had to go and be a smart arse lol. What can i say "genre" is sooooo A-Lvl lol.

Hmm need mroe pro plus. Ive had four and i still feel tired, whered i put the damn lucozade...
