Doesn't look too bad mate, he only thing that lets it down is the brand you've chosen.

Sony XPlod is not know for being decent stuff I'm afraid.

If you're on a budget, something from JBL or Alpine would probably be better.

iv just got a sony x-plod speakers (rumour 900watts)... and i would recomend it.

I havent had alpine speakers tho.. so im not too sure... what differences there are????

But i think the Sony x-plod speaker i have is one mighty beast... but the speaker looks proper bad arss but then is good.. but not earth shakingly good.. dont expect your car to be taking off... expect the baddest CLEAREST cinema sound.. that has windows rattling.... WHICH IS GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME...

I dont need louder, with the right amp the speaker is a beast set on fire.

One thign sony cant do is make headuntis. they all go schizo on you after a while :x

Ive had two now and they both have gone freaky on me. you press one button and itll do the opposite and such. I know other people with the same and similar units who ahve also had problems. Though im afraid i couldnt tell you the names of the units. Not that into ice. Matter of fact im moving away from ice if anything. Bloody effort lol. Need speed before sounds!!

LOL.... i agree with LeMeph...

For me... the only head unit i put in my car is a KENWOOD one.

Its my opinion and people are bound to have theirs.... but i personaly would never ever have a sony head unit or panasonic headunit... they are crapy headunits you can buy from argoss for £50... and i think that says enough... anyway... When it comes to speakers... i do like the sony x-plod speaker... but once again its preference. but headunits have to be either Alpine or Kenwood!!!!! ITS A RULE!@@@@@@@!!!!!

... you can buy kenwood head units in argos... :? I had a panasonic head unit and it was crap, new cds jumped constantly, don't even think about getting me started on poor fitting! But i upgraded to a sony headunit and its brillient, ive never had a problem, sound quality is perfect, crystal clear, cds never jump, even on crap roads, and it looks cool.

Believe me, sony XPlod is NOT rated by anyone I've ever spoken to.

90% is installation etc but the brand does play a part in it.

sony is bad there's much better valkue for money jbl being one of the best for cheap
as for the build make sure you design the enclosure for the sub well as that is the most important thing for a good sounding system

Id disagree with the above opinion atleast on a grammatical level... yeh im a nerd.

Id say you do need to design the enclosure for ebst bass but not for sound nessesarily. As a sort of ex-ice techy type i hate it when people tune their systems to chavvy bass proportions. No treble or mid range is audible just mountains of ear bleeding bass.

Amount of systems ive tuned and been told to try again cos i value mid range and high frequency sounds (coming from a rock background musically i would), all these essex boys is want is drum and bass. And you can barely hear the drums most the time lol. Oh except the bass drum, naturally lol.

Haha. well to be honest im out of the loop to to speak on the tech these days. Ice was last years thing you know lol.

I have found in my polo that i just didnt need the sub woofer at all.

The shape of the boot lends itself to a decent set fo 6x9's. It seems to have good bass producing acoustics in the boot, and i didnt even have a wooden stealth shelf or anything to stiffen the speakers in the spot.

My set up was simply a set of infinity 6x9's (which i rate quite highly in terms of cost to quality) standard fronts and tweeters. The head unit i used to have was an old s**t JVC thing, that died and i got the hellish sony thing!! It ahd a 55wat output if memory serves so it wasnt to shabby sounding. till one day it decided to turn tiself up all the way and blow out my speakers...

Now ive got another sony ehad unit that im borrowing from a friend. it cost him 250 quid but because hes an ass his car is off the road, as hes an army boy he dont care! Quality. Must say the head unit is quite good and only fucks around now and again.

So id say keep it simple. A good head unit, a small amp for your fronts and rears and your sorted.

i always intended to go with infinities all around but never got there. i think you should fullfill my dream my prodical son lol. Go forth and maketh the sound system i could only dream off.

When you tune the system aswell favour the mid tones and the highs. Keep the two almost level but with a slight lean towards high frequency sounds for the symbols and hight hats.

With rock music the bass tends to be more in the mid range anyway. I think if you put a sub in youll just pick up the kick and not much more.

(unless you listen to stories by trapped which will make your ears bleed lol, thats a backwards track i swear.. [good tho])
