I am not sure that my economy spec 55e is much better, but around town it feels pretty damn torquey.

you know when your foots 2 floor and the person in front is staying exactly the same distance infront of you. And then u realise that they were just accelrating normally, and im like for f**k sake so i pop it in fifth and sit back and have a rant 2 my self so it can be annoying what bout u ?

It's got a litre more and twice the power of my Mk1, so doubtful.

The Mk5 1.0E is slower than yours.

Engine Size: 999 cc
0-60 mph: 17.8 s
Power Output: 50 bhp
Torque: 63 lb-ft
Top Speed: 94 mph

Those figures are more optimistic than VW's own which placed the 0-60 in the 18 second region. Having owned one, I can safely say that lack of torque really becomes obvious on the open road.

lol..I changed from a 2.4 litre honda accord exec (2004) with a full bodykit down to a polo 9n 1.2!! The change was awesome and humbling..

I used to race civic type R's, GTI's everything on the road.. plus I used to get well annoyed with small cars that just didnt move!!(like my 9n). Every1 on the road just used to move out of my way..but now I have to let others through, Im always in the slow lane on the motorway..lol..

but I totally enjoy modding my polo!! makes it worth it!!

i have the same engine (SDI) and i had never driven another car as i passed my test in mine so thought it was pretty ok.
then i drove my boyfriends 1.4 petrol and my god i could tell the difference. i asked him what sdi meant and he told me slow diesel injection (then changed it to s**t)
i can't complain really coz its my mums car. when i get my own though i'm gonna get somethin with more oomph that actually does somethin when you put ur foot down!!
