HOW HEAVY IS YOUR CLUTCH

Post by gazmangti »

I have 51 plate polo gti and since i got it has been heavy. Doesn't really bother me but would be nice if it was lighter or are they all like it anyway?

Cheers

Clutch heavy since 57000 replaced at 65000 with LUK clutch. Light as a feather now. :)

i was wondering about this the other day, having had a little drive of a gti i will be honest and say the clutch was dissapointingly heavy. think itd get on my nerves (definatley those in my left leg hah)

how much are you looking at to fit a light one ?! like the 'LUK' mentioned above. heard a few makes people have fitted.

the clutches arent naturally heavy unless they're on their way out

the clutch in comparisson to other vw's is very light

maybe the one i drove had a clutch on the way out then :( was mega heavy

gearbox seemed a lil sloppy too.

thing is my golf mk4's clutch is MEGA light, so i dont want to go to somthing thats shocking to drive in traffic.

maybe i should drive a few more before i knock it off the list of choices

I can do the clutch myself but hate doing them because it brakes my back every time.

I will get a quote from my garage because I just hate doing them.

So how much lighter we talking as light as a mk4 or a bit heavier?

Cheers

I actually prefer a heavier clutch. I can't stand a clutch being too light. I don't know why. I suppose its probably because I drive the family run-a-round and the clutch is pretty hard on that s well.
