OK so I've found a guy I can get the chip for the car. I'm pretty sure it'll fit my engine, being a Multi-point injection (I'm pretty sure it is :? ).

It's multipoint alright :) and a 40kw 55hp NZ engine.
I don't want to spoil the fun off thinking your gonna get some extra power.
You'll be disapointed, powerchips won't bring you that much. I tried it my self.
Instead off a chip buy yourself a 268 ore 276 degree camshaft , that will bring more fun and power.

oh thaks for the advance, did it eat a lot of extra fuel too? Where did u get ur cam shaft from? and how much was it? how hard was it to fit... ushall questions lol. :roll:

I seem to remember reading on a German website that with a 268 cam and chip the NZ engine would produce about 75bhp. Is that true?

I would have thought that chipping the NZ engine should give a bit more power - after all, the advantages of multipoint injection should yield some power gains should they not? I fitted 3F injection to an AAV engine, and got approximately 70bhp at the flywheel.

I think the NZ responds well with a 268 deg cam. The chips are harder to get hold of opposed to the GT. A decent induction kit and de-cat will certainly help too.

I thought the chips were the same? thinkin the cam shaft is going to be a payout job, I really want to do as much to car the myself...

Chip will be different AFAIK. The multipoint injection 3F engine in the GT is Digifant injection, whereas the NZ engine is Digijet and hence uses a different ECU.

Im glad someone around here knows that, I was close to just getting the G40 version and hoping it worked. The guy seemed to also be under the impression it would work, both being Multipoint Injection...

NZ,PY and 3f ECUs are not the same idd.
The NZ engine has the most weakest cam it's just a 196° cam
Instead off a Schrick or Kent cam you could think of a 3F cam (219°)
And take with that cam also the injetcionrail form a 3F engine. This setup will give Your NZ a 60/65 HP
The combination 268° cam, injectionrail, and inlet manifold of the 3F and a decent fine tuning of the ECU will give a 60kw/82HP
Next stage could be to modify your engines head(grinding inlet & outlet)
Bigger valves etc etc
Plenty of options :lol:

:lol: Which I'll be needing LOTs of money :cry: for, which I aint got lol. But I do love the little thing. I'm not going to far with it. I'll get the guy over the road's MK$ when/if he sells it... seeing as hes got a new car...

I didn't notice this part the last time :D

Are your sure about this 70BHP at the flywheel?
What did you change, just injectionrail, inlet manifold, ECU and all the wiring ??

Why my question AAV and the 3F engine are not the same, the basic engine is in both cases the 1272cc but the 3f runs in a higher compression ratio 10.0:1 and the AAV 9.5:1 and the allready mentioned camshaft differences. AAV with only a 204° cam and the 3F with a 219° cam.
And last but not least :D The 3F engine has two fuelpumps with a higher capacity.

I've got a rolling road print out for 60bhp at the wheels - approximately 70bhp at the flywheel. Two true GTs that ran both got 75bhp at the wheels, they both had induction kit; exhaust and decat I think.

It was just the injection setup I replaced (and distributor and spark plugs), I had a large cone filter fitted too. It never ran properly, which I put down to the cam and small difference in compression ratio.

I was lead to believe that the fuel pumps were the same. However, when I converted it to a G40 recently I found it would hesitate terribly under load. It still produced 130bhp on a rolling road, but I recently replaced the inline fuel pump with a G40 one - which cured the hesitation.

thanks, that is what I wanted to know :)
I didn´t realize that it could work or even better an option to improve the AAV engine :)
